An ex-fashion model of the top class at 5'10'' tall, Carey was an a fan favorite of high-end American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent geologist and recognized as the Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. In the course of his career Carey was raised all over the world. Modeling began part time when she was a student studying at university at the University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative for the Ford model Agency in New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. She then returned in New York for her college studies as well as to develop her modeling career. She was a full-time student at New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned while working on modeling assignments. Her interest grew in acting and started taking classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She had a small part in Club Paradise with Robin Williams, in 1986. She spends her free time ski, white-water rafting wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
